Assessment Process
Following your first contact to make an appointment you will be sent an information pack containing all the information needed prior to your assessment. You will then attend the clinic with your child for their assessment. A detailed case history will be taken. Informal and formal assessment will then take place. This will occur over 1-2 sessions depending on your child’s needs. Your clinician will discuss with you all thoughts and findings. Following the assessment you will receive a written report.
If a full report is not required and there is only one area that requires assessment e.g. articulation - a short assessment will be possible with verbal feedback.
Therapy
Therapy may occur weekly or fortnightly. Younger children are usually seen for 30 minute sessions and older children are seen for 45 minute sessions. Therapy will be conducted at the clinic, school or kinder and usually a homework scrapbook is provided. Follow up activities are always given to complete at home.
We aim to make therapy fun and functional. Your child will learn if they are engaged. We have an amazing amount of toys and games so your child will never be bored and will always enjoy coming to speech therapy.
